Started in 2009, Immersion Day has become one of the Alliance Française de Jackson’s most looked-forward to events each year.
On Immersion Day, English is checked at the door and from the first café, the day is conducted in French. Instructors lead participants on a virtual tour of France and beyond; Immersion Day travels have taken us around Paris and all corners of France – Brittany, Strasbourg, Burgundy, Mediterranean Islands, the Loire Valley – as well as Belgium, Quebec, and Acadiana.
Students have learned to come prepared for surprises in the day’s activities. Whether a water tasting as part of a presentation on Vichy, acting out scenes from French movies, Cajun or Renaissance dancing, or meeting the Sun King, the activities make for a memorable day.
