FRENCH WINE: AN INTRODUCTION AND TASTING TOUR
May 22, 2020 | 11:00 am - 11:50 am
FreeWhat you’re drinking when you drink French wine: An introduction and tasting tour
with wine educator Jessica Green in conversation with Pamela Druckerman
AFJ members are invited to this online session hosted by Pamela Druckerman via Zoom from Paris, as part of her popular Pandemonium U series of educational sessions on Zoom. The session is sponsored by the Federation of Alliances Françaises.
Pamela will be talking with wine educator Jessica Green about what makes French wines special, and what you should look for when you taste them. Jessica will focus on wines from three of the world’s best wine regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Loire. This Zoom session works with or without wine on hand, but feel free to have any or all of these to taste with us:
If you want to participate in the tasting, Jessica will be using the following wines:
• Jean-Paul Droin Chablis 2018 (or any white Burgundy)
• Chateau Greysac 2015 (or any Bordeaux red)
• Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses (or any Loire red — Chinon, Bourgueil, or Saumur-Champigny)
This session will be in English with some French vocabulary.
Jessica Green teaches at the International Wine Center in New York. She earned the Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in 2011 and is currently a candidate for the Master of Wine qualification, which is held by just 394 people worldwide. For five years, she lived in Lyon, France, between Beaujolais and the Northern Rhône.
Pamela Druckerman has lived in the City of Lights since 2004 and is the author of four books including Bringing Up Bébé: One American mother discovers the wisdom of French parenting. She’s been a contributing opinion writer at The New York Times since 2013 and a columnist for 1843/the Economist since last year.
